happy birthday, my sweet. today, three years ago, you were born into our lives. we waited for your arrival with anticipation...with love...with excitement...with fear. from the moment we knew of your existence we wanted and loved you instantly. and the day you were born was the happiest day of our lives. we could finally see your little face.
it has been three years and i can still remember every important detail of that day. i can remember the emotions that were racing through me and daddy. i can remember it all as if it were that day again. no, the time has not erased a thing for me. it also hasn't been able to heal the wound either. with the arrival of your little sister so much has changed, i'll admit, and yet so much is still the same.
i miss you, baby girl. i only held you a few short times and they just weren't enough. i think of you so very much. i wonder if you're having a wonderful birthday with all the friends you've made. i wonder if you can see us here trying to celebrate your birthday without you. i wonder what you would look like as a 3yr old...what you would be doing...saying...acting like. i wonder still of all the things i won't be able to experience with you.
simply put, i miss you, Mia.
this week is hard. while the rest of the world is celebrating a spring break and enjoying the changing of the seasons, this week is researved for us to both celebrate your birthday and mourn your angel your day.
i will try, Mia. i will try my hardest to keep the crying to a minimum...to see the happiness of this week three years ago before the sad...to celebrate...to smile. i promise i will try. for you...for Naima...for the love i have for the both of you.
