Naima had her first visit with the dentist at 9mo yesterday. what an experience. how in the world is a 9mo old supposed to go through a visit like that without any screaming and crying? impossible.
so after the trauma we took her to kid's restaurant where she had fun with the spaghetti and the rides.
i have to admit the spaghetti thing is so much more for the fun rather than for the nutrition. it's the first "grown-up" food she's gotten because i'm too scared to give her anything else. she'll probably be eating dry pasta for a while.
so, back to the dentist visit. the outcome?
apparantly Naima has an enamel defect. her teeth either didn't form the enamel correctly and it easily chipped on one of the many times she was knawing on something or it didn't form at all. of course, i came straight home and looked it up with Dr. Google and it said "These problems can develop before, during, or after birth. The treatment options for enamel defects in young children include: aesthetic veneering." so doesn't that sound attractive...my baby will have veneers at 1yr old if the problem gets worse.
for now all the dentist could tell us was that she needed to brush her teeth 3-5 times a day. check. we've been brushing her teeth in the morning, after every meal and milk bottle and right before she goes to bed. she's so used to it already. she sees the little brush coming and she opens her mouth wide open. she even likes doing it herself though she's not very good at it. at least she likes it.
also, she can't have any more milk at night. check. she gets a bottle full h2o now. at first she didn't like it at all but i guess she's ok with it now. either that or she figured the milk is just not going to come so there's no use in crying for it.
and i thought it would be good to document with pictures what happens when baby attacks.
