change of plans
5:14 p.m. on April 21, 2006

what a major change of plans. we've moved the c-section date from wednesday the 26th to monday the 24th. i'm both relieved and nervous about that...

i had my usually bi-weekly NST and BPP u/s today. the NST was reactive and baby's heartbeat was perfect. then i went for the BPP u/s and from what i could see on the screen she was doing great...good breathing, good heartbeat, good tone, good movement, good fluid. then i went downstairs to hear the offical doctor results of the u/s and the nurse says,

"now i don't want you to worry..."

yea, right...i immediately start to worry after i hear those few words.

"...they did see the cord wrapped around the baby's neck and shoulders like a backpack..."

and right about then my worry turned to a full on freakout.

"...now about 50% of babies have nuchal cords and they're born just find with no problems at all. it's just now we know FOR SURE you will have a c-section because your doc doesn't like to do vaginal deliveries with a found nuchal cord. but really try not to worry because nuchal cords are more common than not."

right. no, of course, i'm not worried at all...

luckily i had my weekly OB appointment right aftewards. the minute he came into the room to examine me i started to beg to push up the date. he too explained how common nuchal cords. i started to get teary eyed and he quickly changed his tune. he agreed to move date up to monday.

i do know how common nuchal cords are. i see them all the time on BIRTH*DAY and SPECIAL*DELIVERY but after already experiencing the loss of one of my children i just don't think i can sit back and relax for another 5days. heck, if it were up to me i would've done it right there and then!

i'll be 38wks, 2dys on monday. i do worry that we're a little too early for lung maturity but doc did assure me that by then lung maturity is there and that she is a nice healthy weight...all of that was reassuring.

so now i sit and wait for the next two days and pray that all goes well monday afternoon.

please, God, we're so close...please take care of my baby girl...
